You should clear your cache in order to get an accurate idea of how long it takes for a first-time user to view your site for the first time. Many website developers forget that one of Netscape's (And MSIE)'s nice little features is the storing of graphics and text in a disk cache in order to speed up the loading of common elements to the site. |
For example, the InternAlysis logo you see at the top of your screen is now in your cache. You can see the difference the cache makes simply by clicking on your back button. Try it, and then click on the forward button to come back here. Did you notice how fast the logo appeared on your screen compared to when you first entered this site? This is because of the cache. Since it has already been downloaded once, your web browser now simply loads it from your hard disk instead of transferring it (again) over the Internet. |
